Doran Racing Set to Tackle Circuit of the Americas

LEBANON, Ohio, Sept. 16 — Drivers Brad Jaeger and B.J. Zacharias and the rest of the Doran Racing team head to Austin, Texas this week to compete in the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge's next-to-last race of the year at the Circuit of the Americas on Friday at 1:20 p.m. Eastern time.

The 2-year-old, 3.427-mile, 20-turn road course also hosts the United States Grand Prix annually.

The Lebanon, Ohio-based team is fifth in the Grand Sport team standings with its Nissan NISMO 370Z #14. Nissan is also fifth in the manufacturer standings going into this event. Jaeger, of Charlottesville, Va., is sixth in the GS driver point standings while Zacharias, of Cincinnati, is seventh.

The event will be Jaeger's first at this particular track. "From what I've seen, it looks like a fantastic track and I can't wait to drive it!" he said.

"Because I've never driven there it's all speculation from my end, but I think the Nissan 370Z should be a strong contender there," added Jaeger, who has family in the Dallas area who will attend the race to cheer him on.

Zacharias is also looking forward to the event.

"With this long break coming off of VIR, I'm really looking forward to getting back at it," he said. "We had a bad experience at COTA last year, which was one of my worst weekends ever. We hope to turn that around this time.

"It's a beautiful facility, and I think with the 370Z's wider front tires versus what it was allowed to use last year, it should make it better suited to this particular course," he added.

The race is a timed event of 2.5 hours.

The series' schedule at COTA is condensed into two days — Thursday and Friday. There are two one-hour practice sessions at 8:45 a.m. and 12:55 p.m. local time Thursday before Jaeger will qualify the car at 5 p.m. local time that day. Pre-race activities start at 12:05 p.m. local time on Saturday.

Live streaming of the race is scheduled for imsa.com, while Fox Sports 1 viewers can see the coverage on a tape-delayed basis at noon Eastern on Sunday, Sept. 28.

The season finale is Oct. 3-4 at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Ga.
