New Jersey Neurosurgeon Teams With Paul Tracy for New Jersey
provided by Grand-Am.com

New Jersey neurosurgeon Dr. Jim Lowe co-drive with Paul Tracy – one of the biggest stars in open-wheel racing – in the No. 77 Combos Ford/Dallara Daytona Prototype fielded by Doran Racing in the Global Barter 250 presented by Susan G. Komen.

Lowe, “the world’s fastest neurosurgeon,” lives in Villanova, Pa., with his offices in Linville – east of New Jersey Motorsports Park.

Lowe and Tracy co-drove this car in the season-opening Rolex 24 At Daytona, finishing seventh. The pair also plan to co-drive in the Sahlen’s Six Hours of Watkins Glen on July 1 and the inaugural Super Weekend at the Brickyard on July 27 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Tracy was the 2003 Champ Car titlist with 30 victories in major open-wheel competition. He competed in the Rolex 24 four times, with his best result in the 2012 event.

Lowe participated in the Global Barter 250 in 2010 running the No. 64 JLowe Racing Porsche GT3, finishing 10th with co-driver Johannes van Overbeek.

This year he is even more excited to be behind the wheel of the Combos Ford/Dallara fielded by Kevin Doran with Tracy. Lowe and Tracy formed a good relationship during the 50th Anniversary Rolex 24, when they co-drove with Brian and Burt Frisselle, and they have been making plans with Doran to partner up again ever since.

“I am absolutely thrilled to race again with Paul Tracy,” Lowe said. “Any red-blooded racer would enjoy having a champion of such caliber as their co-driver whether an endurance race or a sprint event like New Jersey. Working with Paul at Daytona turned out to be an absolutely enjoyable experience. He is an exceptional guy, fun to hang out with, great to drive with, and excellent from a technical standpoint.”

Living one hour from the track, Lowe has gained a wealth of experience on the narrow 2.25-mile racetrack known as Thunderbolt Raceway.

“I enjoy the configuration we run with the big carousel chicane; and it has some very technically challenging parts, very little opportunity for passing in certain sections so you really have to be on your game when you go on the attack in these slower corners.”

While Tracy has yet to turn a lap on the twisty 12-turn road course, he is confident he’ll adjust fine.

"I’m really excited to get back behind the wheel with Doran,” Tracy said. “We had a good run at the Rolex 24 and the team has had a chance to prepare for the upcoming races. I’m pleased to get back together with Jim for his hometown race at New Jersey. This is a track I have not yet driven, so I’m eager to learn the course on Thursday during the opening tset day. I’m looking forward to a great weekend with Jim and Kevin and the rest of the Doran crew."

Joining Combos as a second sponsor for New Jersey is The Bass University. Created by professional anglers, Pete Gluszek and Mike Iaconelli, The Bass University offers two-day extensive programs dedicated to taking bass fishing enthusiasts to the next level.
